Senior Analyst, Fixed Income Index Research & Design

The Role: Senior Analyst, Fixed Income Index Research & Design

The Team: Research & Design for iBoxx indices within the Global R&D Group.

The Impact: The team works closely with index clients to design and develop innovative new index solutions to meet investment objectives, including customized, benchmark, tradeable and strategy fixed income indices within S&P Dow Jones (S&P DJI).

What is in it for you?

Upon joining the team you will be part of a global team that creates intellectual capital for S&P Dow Jones Indices and have ownership and responsibility of the index design process. This high visibility role based in Singapore will be at the forefront of fixed income ESG index innovation and product creation for the APAC market.

The role encompasses the full lifecycle of index product development, from idea generation, market research, prototyping, client validation, product development, and coordination with other internal teams to ensure successful index launch.

Responsibilities:

  • Research and analysis of Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) principles, data and regulation
  • Research and analysis of climate and climate change related data and regulation
  • Analysis of new ESG/climate data sets and factors from internal and external sources
  • Designing new index methodologies using ESG and/or climate data
  • Development of new benchmark and tradable index solutions in conjunction with key internal and external stakeholders
  • Extensive modelling of index methodologies in order to produce index constituent list and weights, and to back-test results
  • Writing of index specification guides, fact sheets, operating manuals, business cases as well as contributing to occasional thought leadership pieces.
  • Lead client meetings and calls to discuss customization requirements, draft index methodologies and back-tests
  • Index setup, calculation, and quality control: develop calculation prototypes and test cases for new indices; perform test calculations and reconcile the results with clients.


What we are looking for:
  • A degree in a quantitative discipline such as (but not limited to) economics, financial engineering, statistics and computer science
  • A detail-oriented problem solver with strong analytical skills, ideally with previous experience in the fixed income markets and indexing. Understanding of other asset classes is an advantage
  • A keen interest in the developments and trends within financial markets in areas such as fixed income, asset management and ETFs
  • Demonstrated interest in ESG principles and financial markets (previous experience with ESG data sets or regulation is a plus)
  • Strong programming skills in Python and SQL. Excellent skills in Microsoft Excel and other standard office software
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work in a global, multi-cultural environment and communicate with a global customer base
  • Commercial awareness of the business, its index products and clients, and the commercial opportunities surrounding ESG products
